Hello and welcome to my site! My name is Rachele, and I am the owner of Pawsitive Attention Pet Services.

My obsession with the furred, feathered, and scaled started very young. In fact, my first word was “duck”, and I gave names to all of the ducks on Lake Greenhaven, where my grandma lived at the time. Besides the ducks, some of my first memories are of my mother’s two cats, Figaro and Panda, both who lived to a ripe old age. The first pet that I was solely responsible for was a Syrian hamster named Silly Cindy. We bought her from a pet store on the corner of Franklin and 28th Ave, where La Esperanza Bakery is now. That little hamster lived well over 3 years, not bad with an 8 year old taking care of her!

I have over 20 years experience caring for a variety of pets including hamsters, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, snakes, lizards, dogs, cats, birds, fish, hermit crabs, and garden snails (yes, they can be kept as pets!). At one time, I had two 60 gallon cichlid tanks going, one with a breeding colony of Lake Tanganyika’s Lamprologus ocellatus and the other with a breeding pair of Angelfish. The Angel tank had a gorgeous Madagascar Lace plant which was my pride and joy. I have also volunteered at the SPCA and worked at one of the area’s largest dog and cat boarding facilities. I served 2 1/2 years as the Social Media Coordinator for CHAKO, Sacramento's pit bull rescue and advocacy group. I also am a member of, and volunteer with, Sacramento House Rabbit Society, Sacramento's chapter of the House Rabbit Society. Formerly a registered California Process Server, I have passed a criminal background check through Sacramento County and have been fingerprinted through LiveScan.

The paw print that I use as my logo is a copy of my Cali’s print, colored in Photoshop by my son. Cali would have been 11 on January 1st, 2010. We lost her after complications arising from emergency surgery to remove a corn cob that was obstructing her intestine on July 20th, 2009. That’s her running atop the home page, on a camping trip. She was so happy that day, and I am grateful for the 10 1/2 years that we had together, even though the pain of losing her is still so devastating. If you look closely at that picture, I swear she is smiling. I hope that everyday is like that for her now.

If you currently allow your dogs access to any of the following: “choo” hooves, pig’s ears, rawhide, corn cobs, avocado pits or skin (the fruit itself is safe), macadamia nuts, onions, grapes, raisins, or any items containing xylitol (sugar free gum is one example), please take a moment to do a quick Google search and read for yourself how many terrible tragedies could have been avoided if this knowledge was as commonplace as it should be.
